When you walk through a course
Hold your head afar
And don’t be afraid of the bogey (man)
At the end of each hole
There’s a golden par
And the sweet silver song of a birdie
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
For your ball be tossed and blown
Walk on, Walk on
With hope in your heart
And you’ll never walk alone
Golf on through the wind
Golf on through the rain
For your ball to be tossed and blown
Golf on, Golf on
With hope in your heart
And you’ll will never golf alone
You’ll never golf alone
Swing on through the wind
Swing on through the rain
For your game to be tossed and blown
Swing on, Swing on
With hope in your heart
And you’ll never golf alone
You’ll never golf alone
Original lyrics by Hammerstein & Rodgers

The stirring nature of this song perfectly captures some of the passion needed to be play golf in the rain. It takes fortitude to meet the demands of inclement weather with sticks in hand and soggy socks below. Although many golfers are mere fair weather friends, there are a rare few who brave the elements. Walk on through the wind and the rain. Yes the wind is an ever harder task master or mistress for the golfer. I am reminded of the coast of Scotland and the brutal weather scarifying hardy golfers intent on going about their rounds.
You’ll Never Golf Alone
Once you join a golf club and regularly test your mettle against the course in the company of a four-ball – you’ll never golf alone. You are a part of a band of brothers or sisters who walk out in all sorts of weather. A company of golfers who go our into nature and swing with all their best intentions to shoot a score. You are joined together in your endeavours to compete and play the greatest game ever invented on this earth. You’ll never walk alone in golf.
Swing On Through the Wind & Rain
Never give up and never surrender out on the links, no matter the weather. Swing on through the wind and the rain. Look over and see your playing partner wrestling with a bush in a bid to recover from the rough. A wry smile may cross your lips but you know that together you will golf on. Hope in the heart is an essential part of the golfer’s armoury and getting to the end of those eighteen holes is a must. Missed putts may mount up like dark clouds on the horizon but your four-ball will walk on. This is the special nature of the game of golf. It is a marathon and not a sprint. It is a gruelling adventure and not for the faint hearted. Remember that you’ll never walk alone in golf.
